Vietnam’s GDP growth rate over the first 6 months reached about VND 258,618 billion, up by 5.57 per cent against the same time last year, according to reports from the General Statistics Office.

Major contributors to the increase include agriculture, forestry and fisheries with a rise of 2.08 per cent, industry and construction up by 6.49 per cent and services by 6.12 per cent.

However, the reports show that the added value index of the industrial sector has been slowing down in comparison to the growth rate of production.

Over the first 6 months, the industrial production index rose 9.7 per cent year on year, while, retail sales and customer services turnover stood at VND 911,733 billion, up by 22.6 per cent.

The figure in June only was VND 153,596 billion.
