APEC business activities unveiled
PANO - The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a press conference to introduce the full range of business activities for APEC 2017 on March 21 afternoon in Hanoi.
The priorities of the APEC Year 2017 were given to are promoting sustainable, innovative and inclusive growth; promoting connectivity and deepening regional economic integration; strengthening micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs)’ competitiveness and innovation and participation in global value chains; enhancing food security and sustainable agriculture in response to climate change.
Vietnam hosted APEC for the first time on April 10, 2006 in Hanoi. Vietnam’s hosting the APEC 2017 has demonstrated its growing position in the region and world, according to VCCI President Vu Tien Loc, Chairman of the CEO Summit 2017. Meanwhile, via APEC events, Vietnam aims to attract more foreign investment in the country as, APEC 2017 will attract much interest and concern from companies around the world.
“We invited Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder of Facebook to participate in start-ups, and hoped that he will come to Vietnam in the coming time. One female leader of Facebook will definitely join the APEC Entrepreneurs Forum on September, 2017 in Hue.” Vu Tien Loc said.
Also in this press conference, Vice President Hoang Van Dung, Chairman of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) announced the results of the first Senior Officials’ Meeting, Vietnam hosted the meeting, and deployed ABAC’s activities, themed “Creating a new impetus and building a common future” to boost sustainable economic development in Asia Pacific and to ensure benefits for all.
