Vietnamese firms attend second China International Import Expo
A Vietnamese business delegation, led by Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, is attending the second China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2019, which opened in Shanghai on November 5.
The event drew the participation of nearly 3,900 enterprises from over 150 countries and territories across the world, who came to showcase their products in smart equipment and technology, household electronics, auto industry, consumer goods, farm produce, IT products, and services on an area of more than 300,000 square meters, and seek business partners.
Vietnam’s pavilion at the event has an area of 400 sq.m, twice the size in the previous event in 2018. It features many prestigious companies from Vietnam, including Trung Nguyen Coffee Corporation, TH Food Chain Joint Stock Company, Quang Ngai Sugar Joint Stock Company, Tan Hue Vien Food Processing Co., Ltd. and VinaPro.
According to statistics from Vietnam customs, trade value between Vietnam and China totaled 83.67 billion USD during January-September, surging 9.95 percent from the same time last year. China continued to be the largest trade partner and the largest import market of Vietnam in the period.
The CIIE 2019 will run until November 10. The annual expo is considered as an important trade promotion event of the Chinese government, aiming to create opportunities for all nations to get access to this large market.
China launched the first export last year so as to promote the country as a buyer of the world’s goods, in contrast to the longstanding perception of it primarily being a manufacturer.
