In the year, the Czech Republic shipped more than USD 140.7 million worth of goods to Vietnam, up 32.7 percent against 2017, showing an upbeat sign in the bilateral trade.

The European country’s major exports to Vietnam included sound and image recording equipment and television sets worth over USD 64.78 million, along with optical, movie and surgery equipment, glass and crystal, plastics, military equipment, seedlings, pharmaceuticals, medicinal herbs and industrial plants.

Meanwhile, Vietnam exported audio-visual equipment valued at over USD 365.5 million, and footwear and similar products worth USD 229.8 million to the Czech Republic.

Vietnamese rubber, inorganic chemical compound, leather, garment accessories, apparel, mechanical equipment, wooden furniture, farm produce and seafood were also shipped to the country.

However, the trade revenue has yet to match economic potential and market demand of the two countries, the office said.

In 2017, the two-way trade reached USD 1.12 billion.
