Two-way trade between Vietnam and China reached USD 93.6 billion in 2017, up 30 percent year-on-year, and accounting for 22 percent of Vietnam’s total import-export turnover. Of the total, USD 35.4 billion came from Vietnam’s exports.
Vietnam posted a trade deficit of USD 28 billion with China in 2016. The figure was down to USD 22.7 billion last year, a positive sign in improving the bilateral trade balance.
Bilateral trade is forecast to exceed USD 100 billion in 2018.
