HCM City boosts cooperation with Japanese prefecture
Ho Chi Minh City is willing to create all favourable conditions for Japanese investors, including those from Kanagawa prefecture, to operate effectively in the city, especially in the fields of mechanics, information technology and plastics.
The statement was made by Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong at a reception for visiting Kanagawa Governor Kuroiwa Yuji in the city on July 14.
The two localities see great potential for collaboration in the field of public health care, which is an important demand of HCM City and a strength of Kanagawa, he said.

Congratulating the Japanese prefecture on the successful organisation of the Vietnam Festa Kanagawa 2017, the largest-ever Vietnam festival in Japan, Phong said the event offered a good chance for Japanese people to better their understanding of the Vietnamese culture and people, contributing to tightening their friendship and solidarity with Vietnamese people, including those in HCM City.
He also suggested the Kanagawa Governor to continue creating optimal conditions for the city’s health care and technical postgraduates to pursue further education in the prefecture.
Expressing his impression at HCM City’s dynamic development, Kuroiwa Yuji affirmed his readiness to connect the city with Kanagawa businesses, especially in areas where Vietnamese trainees in Japan can work.
He said he wishes to foster cooperation with HCM City in health care, exchanging experience and medical techniques, and designing medical tours of Kanagawa.
At present, 13,000 Vietnamese people, including 2,000 students and postgraduates, are living in Kanagawa. The Vietnam Festa Kanagawa has become an annual festival in Kanagawa and one of the largest cultural events in this locality.
