First Senior Officials’ Meeting of APEC kicked off
PANO – The first meetings within the framework of the first Senior Officials’ Meeting of 2017 APEC (SOM1) opened on February 18 in Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa province.

The agenda saw the participation of more than 390 delegates from APEC member economies and some international organizations. At the meetings, seminars and workshops, they discussed hot issues raised by eight APEC working groups, namely Human Resource Development Working Group (HRDWG); Emergency Preparedness Working Group (EPWG); Anti-Corruption and Transparency Experts' Working Group (ACTWG); Policy Partnership on Science, Technology and Innovation (PPSTI); Intellectual Property Rights Experts’ Group (IPEG); Expert Group on Illegal Logging and Associated Trade (EGILAT); Chemical Dialogue (CD); and Business Moves Group (BMG).
In the days that follow, the delegates will continue discussing cooperation orientations and priorities of the above working groups, and also suggest cooperation priorities of the APEC in 2017.
