During a meeting with Vice Governor of Guangdong province Ouyang Weimin in Hanoi on August 27, the Deputy PM spoke highly of Guangdong’s socio-economic achievements and affirmed that Vietnam hopes to bolster practical cooperation and friendship between its ministries, sectors, and localities with the Chinese province.

Noting that Guangdong has the biggest trade volume with Vietnam among Chinese localities, Dung asked Guangdong to continue to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses and goods, as well as to encourage more enterprises in Guangdong to invest in Vietnam.

He also suggested the sides increase the exchange of delegations of all levels and foster result-oriented cooperation.

For his part, Ouyang Weimin reiterated that Guangdong authorities and people always value cooperation in all fields with Vietnam, adding that their geographical proximity and large market scale are significant advantages to boost bilateral cooperation.

He pledged that in the coming time, the Chinese province will continue to closely join hands with ministries, sectors and localities of Vietnam to strengthen economic, trade and investment partnership, thus facilitating Vietnam’s export to Guangdong and boosting people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in culture, education and science.

Guangdong is the only Chinese locality that has a cooperation mechanism with ministries, sectors and localities of Vietnam. In 2018, the trade turnover between Vietnam and Guangdong hit 37.16 billion USD, up 34.2 percent, accounting for 25.1 percent of the Vietnam-China trade turnover.
