Business-connectivity activities scheduled during APEC High-level Week
PANO - A series of activities with the aim of boosting connectivity among businesses will take place during the APEC High-level Week, scheduled to open early this November, according to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in a recent press conference.
VCCI’s President Vu Tien Loc said that domestic and international businesses will participate in conferences, namely, the fourth session of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), APEC CEO Summit, Vietnam Business Summit and Dialogue between APEC Leaders and ABAC members.
The APEC CEO Summit, to take place from November 8 to 10, with the theme “Creating new dynamic, fostering a shared future”, gathering leading businesses of APEC’s 21 economies, will discuss APEC economies’ future and APEC’s driving forces for development. Other discussions during the meeting include the future of globalization, rural development, start-ups of small- and medium-sized enterprises, global value chain and more.
Under the theme “Vietnam - a reliable business partner”, the Vietnam Business Summit to open on November 7 will introduce a comprehensive Vietnam of comprehensive renewal for sustainable development and a friendly destination for businesses.
Also at the press conference, Hoang Van Dung, head of ABAC, said that the council has submitted main proposals to the State President, which will be sent to the APEC High-level Week. The proposals focus on the development of trade liberalization, increase in investment attraction in the Asia-Pacific region, connectivity promotion, priority given to digital infrastructure development, strengthening of public-private partnership to attract capital and experience-sharing from the private sector; enhancement of start-up business model and favorable environment created for micro- and small-sized enterprises to develop and to have access to the global value chain.
Dung also said that ABAC highly valued APEC Vietnam 2017 and hoped more initiatives to be rolled out to create the best business environment for businesses in the region for sustainable, innovative and inclusive development of the APEC Community.
