This will be the first time Vietnam hosts a continental-level tournament, with Thai Nguyen selected as a host location.
According to the organizing committee, the event is expected to welcome the participation of nearly 400 coaches, athletes, team managers and referees from 25 countries and territories. This year’s tournament features competitions in 28 weight classes and 8 technical performance categories. The Vietnamese sports delegation includes 50 athletes, 6 of whom are from Thai Nguyen.
Head of the Muay Thai Division at the Sports Authority of Vietnam under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tu Thi Le Na emphasized that this is a great honor for Vietnam to reinforce the reputation of Muay Thai in the international sports stage. Following the Asian Muay Thai Championship in Thai Nguyen, the Vietnam Muay Thai team is scheduled to participate in the World Games in Chengdu (China) in August, the World Youth Championship in UAE in September and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand in December 2025.
Director of the Thai Nguyen provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Ngoc said that as the host, the province has pro-actively, professionally and synchronously prepared for the event in a well-coordinated and comprehensive manner, meeting the international standards for infrastructure, security, healthcare and logistics services. He also noted that this is an opportunity for Thai Nguyen province to convey a message to the world about a youthful, vibrant, dynamic and culture-rich land, making significant strides in education, tourism, sports and technology.
Within the framework of the tournament, the organizing committee will present the Labor Order, conferred from the President of Vietnam, to 4 outstanding athletes for their remarkable efforts, dedication and contributions to the development of this sport in Vietnam.
According to the schedule, the 2025 Asian Muay Thai Championship will take place from June 20 to 26.
