PANO – The Hanoi municipal Department of Tourism on October 6 announced that the Hanoi Ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) Festival 2016 will take place at Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi from October 14 to 16.

Themed “The Quintessence of Vietnamese Ao Dai”, the festival is part of activities to honour Hanoi’s cultural values and artisans' while promoting cooperation in fashion and tourism among local businesses.

The program will include exhibitions, art and cultural activities featuring the beauty of the Ao dai as well as workshops on preserving the Ao dai’s traditional values.

Collection of past and present Ao dai pieces will be displayed along with materials and old looms used to make the traditional costume at an exhibition entitled “Hanoi’s Ao dai Festival”.

Visitors can also enjoy Hanoi’s cuisine, cyclo and motorbike parades and have their own Ao dai made at the event.
