The Vietnamese teams were Kinh Bac – Bac Ninh, LienVietPostBank, VTV Binh Dien Long An and Tien Nong Thanh Hoa, while the guests included China’s Fujian and Shanghai Fudan, Kazakhstan U23 and the DPRK 4.25 Club.
The eight participants were divided into two groups and competed in a round robin format to decide the top two teams from each group that advanced to the semifinals.
After eight days of competition with sportsmanship, the teams gave the fans fierce, exciting and professional matches.
With their superior height, resilient fitness and diverse attacking measures, the DPRK 4.25 Club performed impressively throughout the tournament and brought home the overall trophy in a convincing fashion as they won all of their matches.
As the champions, the DPRK 4.25 Club walked away with 15,000 USD, while second-placed LienVietPostBank and third-placed VTV Binh Dien Long An received 10,000 USD and 6,000 USD, respectively. The tournament offered 40,000 USD up for grabs, the largest sum in the system of women’s volleyball competitions in Vietnam at present.
In addition, the organising committee presented seven individual prizes worth 2,000 USD in total, including “best outside hitter”, “best middle blocker”, “best setter”, “best opposite”, “best libero”, “most comprehensive player” and “Miss Volleyball”.
