ASIAD 2018: Pencak Silat brings Vietnam fourth gold medal
Pencak Silat athlete Tran Dinh Nam on August 29 secured the fourth gold medal for Vietnam at the 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD) in Indonesia.

Nam bagged the gold after defeating Khalid Mohd Rauzi from Malaysia 5-0 in the final of the men’s Tanding under 75kg.
Nam’s medal is the second gold won secured by Pencak Silat athletes, following the first by Nguyen Dinh Tri in the men’s Tanding under 95kg.
Previously, Vietnamese Pencak Silat athletes have also pocketed four silver and three bronze medals.
The two other gold medals were bagged by track-and-field athlete Bui Thi Thu Thao in the women’s long jump and the rowing team in the women’s lightweight quadruple sculls category.
With these excellent performances, Vietnam ranked 14th in the ASIAD 2018 medal tally as of 15:30 on August 29, with four gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze medals.
The Vietnamese delegation consists of 523 people, including 352 athletes. It aims to snatch at least three gold medals at ASIAD 2018, which is taking place in two major Indonesian cities - Jakarta and Palembang - from August 13 to September 2.
At the last ASIAD in 2014, Vietnam won one gold, 10 silver and 25 bronze medals, ranking 21st in the overall medal tally.
