Southern hub hosts Ao dai festival
PANO - The sixth Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) festival, themed "Charm of Ao dai in Ho Chi Minh City," was launched by the city’s Department of Tourism and Women’s Association on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City on March 2.
The opening ceremony for the festival introduced a number of Ao dai collections made by domestic and foreign famous designers.
The fortnight festival covers various activities such as a beauty contest themed “Charm of Ao dai,” a photo competition titled “Online beautiful photos of Ao dai,” Ao dai fashion shows, an Ao dai design contest, and a talk show “Ao dai and flowers with the traditional Japanese technique Tsumami,” to name but a few.

Miss Universe Vietnam in 2017 H’Hen Nie was invited to be the fiesta’s ambassador.
Additionally, the organizers launched a program to invite local women to wear Ao dai and another program to present Ao dai to members of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Association and female workers living in the suburbs.
Besides, more than 200 ao dai tailors and accessory shops in Ho Chi Minh City will offer 5-50 percent discount to clients in response to the festival.
