The 1.8ha center, which has a total capital of VND 33 billion (USD 1.5 million), includes a two-storey building with a hall of 100 seats, a dining room for 120 people, housing for trainees and a showroom.

It aims to help Xiangkhouang boost training and consultation capability as well as transfer of technology to farmers, thus promoting agro-forestry production and improving locals’ living conditions.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh said the Vietnam-Laos cooperation has developed fruitfully in all fields over the past years.

He expressed his hope that the center will be operated effectively for the development of Laos’ ago-forestry sector.

Lao Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Khamboun Natsayanon thanked the Vietnamese government and people for their help given to Laos in general and Xiangkhouang in particular.

He affirmed the centre is an outstanding symbol of the special friendship and sustainable cooperation between Laos and Vietnam in the agricultural field, and pledged to use the center sustainably and effectively.
