Among those attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of the ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) delegation of Vietnam Dang Hoang Giang; representatives of the National Assembly’s Committee for National Defense, Security and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; as well as ambassadors, chargés d’affaires, and representatives of ASEAN member states and ASEAN partner countries in Hanoi.

In his remarks, Minister Le Hoai Trung highlighted ASEAN’s transformation over the past 59 years into a community of peace, progress, and shared prosperity. Under the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026 and the theme "Navigating Our Future, Together," the association has achieved significant progress during the first year of implementing the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. He said that by strengthening trust, deepening cooperation, and advancing regional solutions, ASEAN can further reinforce its role in maintaining regional stability and contributing to the shaping of the regional order.

The minister stressed that ASEAN is not only a strategic priority and a cornerstone of Vietnam’s foreign policy, but also the country’s shared regional home and an essential driver of its international integration. As Vietnam enters a new era of development and pursues its two centennial goals of becoming a modern industrialized nation by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045, its future is closely tied to ASEAN’s collective success. A stronger ASEAN will create greater opportunities for Vietnam, while a stronger Vietnam will enable the country to make more meaningful contributions to the regional bloc.
Minister Le Hoai Trung reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to working alongside ASEAN in realizing the shared vision of a resilient, innovative, dynamic, and people-centered ASEAN Community.
The annual ASEAN flag hoisting ceremony has become a proud tradition across all ASEAN member states, honoring the organization’s shared values and reaffirming its commitment to unity, friendship, and cooperation under the ASEAN Community, with the common goal of promoting regional peace, cooperation, and shared prosperity.
