At the EAS, Russia will put forth an initiative in the area of fighting terrorism and terrorism ideology spread. It is necessary to further promote consultations launched earlier on regional security issues, according to the Russian Government’s spokesperson.

Russia aims at an efficient cooperation with all EAS partners, promoting the agenda to maintain peace and security as well as stable and sustainable development of the Asian-Pacific region.
The country considers EAS a key platform for dealing with the establishment of a transparent, open and comprehensive system based on respect for adherence to international law, mutual trust, and peaceful settlement of disputes without resorting to the threat or use of force in the Asia-Pacific region.
Russia also highly values prospects in deepening cooperation with regional countries for socio-economic development of Russia’s East Siberia and Far Eastern region.
The East Asia Summit has been held annually since 2005 as a high-level discussion of leaders of nations in the Asia-Pacific region on a wide range of regional and global issues.
The EAS brings together ten members of ASEAN (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippine, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam), Australia, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Russia, and the US.
