AIPA-46 transforms dialogue into action for prosperous ASEAN
The 46th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-46), themed “Parliament at the Forefront for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable ASEAN", successfully concluded on September 20, reaffirming the commitment to a prosperous, people-centered ASEAN.

Speaking at a press conference following the closing ceremony, Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives Tan Sri Dato Johari bin Abdul, President of AIPA-46, stated that the discussions within AIPA-46 went beyond dialogue and were translated into concrete actions. Through six sessions of committees on political, economic, social, and organizational matters, as well as AIPA Women Parliamentarians and AIPA Young Parliamentarians, AIPA-46 advanced regional priorities and multilateral cooperation.
The speaker highlighted that the 46th AIPA General Assembly considered and adopted a total of 42 resolutions, setting a record for the highest number of resolutions passed at any General Assembly to date. These resolutions cover a wide range of issues, from peace, security, and combating cybercrime to strengthening intra-bloc trade, digital economy, green economy, and climate change response, as well as organizational matters to enhance AIPA’s operational effectiveness. AIPA also decided to grant Observer status to the Parliament of Algeria.
At the closing ceremony of AIPA-46, AIPA Secretary General Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman handed over the role of AIPA Secretary General to her successor, Chem Widhya of Cambodia. AIPA-46 concluded with the handover of the AIPA presidency from Malaysia to the Philippines, which will host AIPA-47 in 2026.
