Ha Long Bay in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh has been listed among the top eight green spaces/ national parks in Asia by Agoda.com, one of the continent’s leading hotel booking websites.
With 4.23 out of the 5 points, Ha Long Bay is placed at the fourth position.
It follows the Hallasan National Park (the Republic of Korea), the Taroko National Park (China’s Taiwan), and the Osaka Castle Park (Japan).
The last four destinations are the Ang Thong National Marine Park and the Khao Yai National Park (Thailand), the Penang National Park (Malaysia), and the Rizal Park (the Philippines).
The list includes national parks which are suitable for outdoor activities and green spaces in the middle of cities with important historical backgrounds.
The rankings are based on feedbacks of customers and analysis of booking information on Agoda.com.
Ha Long Bay covers 1,553 square kilometres and counts 1,969 islands of various sizes.
On December 17, 1994, the bay was officially listed as a World Heritage site with globally outstanding value in terms of natural landscape by UNESCO.
In 2011, it surpassed 261 other landscapes around the world to be voted as one of the seven new natural wonders of the world.
