On the western line from Hanoi to Lao Cai, several sections remain submerged or affected by slope collapses. Railway units are working urgently to clear the tracks. As a result, passenger trains SP8, SP3, and SP4 on the Hanoi–Lao Cai route remain suspended on October 1.

VNR has directly informed passengers of the cancellations via SMS, the Zalo messaging app, social media platforms, and its official website.
Ticket holders are eligible for a full refund without any fees and are advised to visit railway stations within 30 days from the travel date printed on the ticket to complete the refund process.
In addition, the railway has arranged road transport for nearly 1,500 passengers between Thanh Hoa and Truong Lam stations. As of the morning of October 1, affected passengers have been provided with over 3,400 breakfasts and nearly 4,400 main meals.
Passenger services on the southern line have resumed, including the Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City route. However, some areas remain affected by heavy rains and storms, forcing trains to operate at reduced speeds of around 5 km/h.
Freight transport continues to face disruptions, with 24 cargo trains currently halted at stations along affected routes due to flooding. Specifically, four north–south cargo trains have been suspended, and two containers at Cau Giat station in Nghe An province have been transferred to road transport to Yen Vien station in Hanoi.
VNR is closely monitoring developments following the storms, coordinating with relevant authorities to provide timely information to passengers and ensure safe and smooth train operations.
