500 plants of Mai anh dao (Prunus Cesacoides), a kind of cherry blossom that grows in Dalat city, Vietnam, were planted yesterday, July 27th in the Tuyen Lam Lake Tourism Area, the biggest in Vietnam and is regarded as the second Dalat city in Lam Dong province.
The planting is under a project entitled “Space of Mai anh dao” with the total investment of VND 6 billion in which VND 1.3 billion is from the State budget and the remaining is from a group of investors.
As said, any enterprises keen on investing in the Tuyen Lam Lake Tourism Area have to make a commitment of planting mai anh dao, that is typical of Dalat city, in the gardens and along the roads.
Under the project, mai anh dao will be grown in almost all valleys, hillsides, by the lake, and in the parks so that the Tuyen Lam Lake Tourism Area will be covered by the pink of mai anh dao whenever Tet holiday begins and spring arrives.
As scheduled, by 2012, as many as 56,000 mai anh dao plants will be growing on the area of up to 113 hectares.
An interesting news item is that Dalat intends to hold an annual mai anh dao festival in the near future.
