* State President Tran Dai Quang sent greeting flowers to two senior teachers, Professor Vu Khieu and pianist Thai Thi Lien, the most outstanding teachers who have made considerable contributions to Vietnam’s education sector.

Professor Khieu, more than 100 years old, is a well-known scholar specializing in Vietnamese culture. Meanwhile, Ms. Lien, 94 years old, is one of the foremost piano composers of Vietnam and one of the seven founding teachers of the Vietnam School of Music, now the Vietnam Academy of Music (VAM).

* On November 20, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc extended greetings to some outstanding teachers.

Visiting Ms. Lien, PM Phuc thanked the artist for training many famous artists for Vietnam, including her two talented offspring, renowned pianists Dang Thai Son and Tran Thu Ha, a former director of the VAM. 

The Prime Minister also inquired after writer Vu Tu Nam, who has been bestowed with the State Award of Literature and Art; and sculptor Ta Quang Bao, another recipient of the State Award of Literature and Art.

* On the same day, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City marked its 60th founding anniversary.

Over its illustrious history, the school has trained high-quality human resources to the country with over 75,000 graduates, 7,000 MAs, and 600 PhDs.

* The Hanoi - Amsterdam Gifted High School on November 20 unveiled a project “Traditional space”, with photos and documents on the history of the school’s foundation and development.

* The Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to celebrate the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day. Thanks to attaching importance to education and research work, the ministry’s schools have 22 professors, 104 associate professors, and thousands of PhDs and MAs.

* The Ministry of National Defense on November 20 announced a decision to hand over the Meritorious and People's Teacher title and present Outstanding Teacher at the ministry level title to the best military teachers in the whole army.

The event saw the presence of Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Vice-Chief-of-the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy-Defense Minister.

Over the past years, military instructors have actively improved their competencies and teaching skills, and made considerable contributions to the education cause in the army and the country as well.

On the same day, General Giang attended a gathering to mark the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day held by the Military Academy of Logistics.

* Furthermore, the Military Technical and Medical Academies organized meetings for the same purpose.
