PANO - During October 17 - 18, the Thai Binh provincial Military Command sent 500 active-duty troops to 12 coastal communes of Tien Hai and Thai Thuy districts and 24 other communes to help local people harvest crops.

In addition, the command directed its units to make a good preparation of efforts and assets in order to minimize possible consequences of the upcoming storm.

* A delegation of Division 324 of Military Region 4, led by its Political Commissar, Senior Colonel Trinh Van Hung, visited and offered rice, instant noodles, and one thousand of fresh water bottles to flood-hit people in Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh province.

During the flooding, the division sent 300 troops to most flood-hit areas. The troops spent thousands of hours helping clean four kindergartens, two commune-level medical stations, and repair homes of six policy households, as well as dredge 2km of rural road in the communes of Phuong My, Gia Pho, Loc Yen, and Huong Linh. Their assistance contributed to quickly stabilizing production and life in the localities.

* Brigade 679 of the Naval Region 1 Command mobilized 100 troops to assist people in the communes of An Thang and Tan Dan of An Lao district of Hai Phong City in harvesting rice.

* The Quang Ninh provincial Military Command mobilized their troops to help local people harvest their crops and consolidate dykes.

Meanwhile, over 1,100 troops of Quang Yen town’s armed forces participated in harvesting crops prior to the upcoming storm.
