Vietnam receives about 25 million USD of international aid for Central flood victims
Thirty-two international organizations have donated some 25 million USD for people affected by natural disasters in Vietnam’s Central region this year, heard at a conference held on December 16.
At the event, which reviewed international support for Vietnam’s natural disaster risk mitigation in 2020, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep said the due attention given to Vietnam reflected the humanitarian value in the work of the international organizations and the effective operation of the Disaster Risk Reduction Partnership (DRRP).

The DRRP was established under the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Decision No.3922/QD-BNN-TCCB, with the participation of 18 international organizations.
At the event, representatives from DRRP members discussed related matters and pledged their continued collaboration with Vietnam in the time to come.
Andrew Jeffries, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and DRRP Chairman, said ADB and members of the DRRP have come to affected provinces and offered technical and financial assistance to locals.
He affirmed the ADB will continue to stand side by side with Vietnam in the prevention and control of natural disasters and mitigation of their risks.
Tiaji Maynell Sio from the German Embassy in Vietnam underscored consistent cooperation of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) with Vietnam in the work.
Tran Quang Hoai, deputy head of the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, noted all needed conditions will be made available to facilitate the operation of the partnership.
