The Signal Command teamed up with Tuyen Hoa district of Quang Binh province marked the 45th year since 13 troops of Cipher Station A69 sacrificed themselves  on July 2, 1972 in Thanh Hoa commune.

Cipher Station A69 of Company 9, Regiment 134, a terminal of the North-South military communication line, was tasked with directly ensuring information and communication for depots of Station 25 of Unit 559 in Thanh Lang, Station 12 in Cong Troi, Air Defense Division 367, Military Hospital 4 of Army Corps 4, Cha Lo Border Post and a naval base in Ba Don town, Quang Binh district. It also worked as an equipment depot of the Signal Command.

On July 2, 1972, the enemy launched a large-scale air-strike at Cipher Station A69, causing huge losses, claiming lives of 13 troops and leaving many injured. On May 7, 2009, Len Ha cave, where 13 troops of Cipher Station A69 died, was recognized as a national historical relic site.

On the occasion, the Military Servicewomen and Military Youth Boards presented 13 gifts to relatives of the fallen soldiers of Cipher Station A69.

* The Ha Nam provincial Military Command, in cooperation with the provincial Red Cross Society, provided free health checkups, medical consultancy and medicines, worth over VND 100 million, for 1,000 national contributors in Thanh Liem and Kim Bang districts. The group also presented 50 gifts, worth VND 400,000 each, to typical national contributors’ families in the locality.

* The Hai Duong provincial Military Command is constructing eight gratitude and comradeship houses for local national contributors with housing difficulty.

Since the beginning of this year, the command cooperated with other relevant agencies to provide free health check-ups and medicines for 761 national contributors in the locality and to present 40 gifts to the needy.

* Meanwhile, more than 49,000 national contributors in Hai Phong city received gifts in both cash and kind at a total value of over VND 120 billion.

* Also on July 2, a delegation from the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) offered incense to General Vo Nguyen Giap at his home town in An Xa village, Loc Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, and at his tomb in Vung Chua-Yen Island in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province.

In Ha Tinh province, the delegation laid wreaths and offered incense at the Volunteer Youth Relic Site at Dong Loc Junction and the memorial place in commemoration of fallen soldier, hero Ly Tu Trong.

Earlier, the delegation offered incense to late General Secretary Le Duan at his home town in Hau Kien village, Trieu Thanh commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province.

The bank also presented VND 400 million to the Quang Tri provincial Youth Union Organization to light candles for fallen soldiers at 72 war cemeteries in the locality.

* The same day, in Vung Tau city, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, Ms. Le Thi Tam, a native in Phu Nhuan district, Ho Chi Minh City, handed over 11 gifts, valued at VND 2 million each, to relatives of fallen soldiers in the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, DK1 platforms and naval troops with difficulties, who live in Vung Tau city and Nhon Trach ditrict of Dong Nai province. The gifts were extracted from her retirement pension.

Ms. Tam is going to presented gifts to 64 relatives of Truong Sa troops who died in action on the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of the monument “People resting in peace on the horizon” in Cam Ranh city, Khanh Hoa province.
