According to the committee, a sailor on board cargo Phu An – 368 of Vietnam got severe head and chest injuries on March 23 and had serious symptoms, including high fever and difficulty breathing while the cargo was in the contiguous waters between Myanmar and Thailand.
Reported on the case, the Office of National Committee for Incident and Disaster Response and Search and Rescue contacted with the cargo’s crew-members and provided medical consultation to the injured. The office also urged the Consular Department under the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to report to Thailand’s relevant agencies and ask the Thai side to give support to the injured sailor and take citizen protection measures.
On March 25, the cargo reached Phuket port and was received by the Thai Navy. The injured sailor was then hospitalized for treatment.
