More than 10,000 people join Fund Run for Charity in HCM City
More than 10,000 people joined the Fun Run for Charity, 18th edition held by British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV), in District 7 in Ho Chi Minh City on September 30.
Runners and walkers divided in three categories for men, women and teenagers completed a 5 kilometer race.
This year’s event raised over VND 1 billion (USD 43,000) for charitable activities.
According to the organizing board, over the past 17 years, the BBGV has raised about 10 VND for charitable activities in Vietnam. The events attracted more than 100,000 people.
In 2017, the Fund Run for Charity in HCM City drew 10,000 participants, raising nearly VND 1 billion.
With funding, the program provided the Saigon Children charitable organization with 12 scholarships worth 100 million VND to help needy students. It also provided scholarships worth over VND 170 million for 112 female students in difficult background in southern Hau Giang province, while assisting VND 270 million to build a kindergarten in Da Bop village in northern Dien Bien province, and cooperating with Loerto organization to upgrade toilets in A Phu Hoi primary school in southern An Giang.
