On this occasion, Mr. Thuong presented 50 scholarships, worth VND 1 million each, to some of the school’s disadvantaged students.

Song Phu High School was built on an area of land of 17,500 sq.m. The project comprises a headquarters building, a classroom block, a multi-functional building, and a lake. The project was completed after nearly 6 months of construction meeting the stringent demands for teaching and learning at the school for the new school year.

The scholarships awarded at the inauguration ceremony will help poor students overcome economic difficulties, as well as encourage them to strive to achieve highest academic records in the new school year.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy-Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia valued highly the achievements of Vinh Long province’s education sector in recent years. The Deputy-Minister said that Song Phu Secondary School was inaugurated on the occasion of the new school year of 2017-2018 in order to create the best conditions for teaching and learning of the school. She also urged the school to continue to seek innovations in management roles, and to improve its staff’s qualification to meet the requirements of the current phase of educational reforms.

At the ceremony, delegates and sponsors donated VND 3 billion to the provincial Study Encouragement Fund as well as 300 scholarships worth VND 300 million to disadvantaged students who achieved good academic grades in the province.
