A decision to set up environmental voluntary teams has just been made by the Hanoi Municipal Youth Union Committee.

20 teams, with the participation of some 300 students, were formed to clear up litter and treat the environment of flood-hit localities in Hanoi.

Visiting Chuong My District on November 9th, one of the most flood-affected localities, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Committee Ngo Duy Hieu instructed the local youth organization to report the consequences and local situation after the flood to the city’s youth committee.

Voluntary students will then be sent to the district to help people settle down again in their lives and to repair infrastructural facilities, as well as in coordination with health care units to purify water sources and clean up the living environment.

Also, 2,000 youths and students were mobilized by youth organizations to collect wastes, tidy up roads and streets and help local people prevent disease after floods in the prefectures of Hoang Mai, Dong Da, Hoang Mai, Thanh Xuan and Ha Dong.
