As many as 1,000 old residents in Ho Chi Minh City are to receive free medical check-ups and medicine by October 20.
The one-month programme, launched on September 20, is part of a number of events organised by the city’s Department of Health, Vietnam Youth Federation and Young Pharmacist Association to mark the International Day of the Elderly on October 1.
President of HCM City’s Young Pharmacist Association Vu Tri Thanh said the aim of the campaign is to provide high-quality health care to the elderly, who devoted their entire lives to society.
So far, 400 people have received free health check-ups, consultations and medicine. Another 600 people in the remote districts of Can Gio and Binh Chanh will benefit from the campaign.
