Handing over the lighting system project to the district 

The lighting system project is part of the “Lighting up the countryside” project conducted by Canon Vietnam. With the moto, “Kyosei - Living and working for the common good,” towards the sustainable development goals, the “Lighting up the countryside” program contributes to ensuring the traffic safety and building the civilized and modern countryside. These efforts also aim to achieve two sustainable development goals of developing a synchronous, quality, reliable, resilient and sustainable system of transportation infrastructure to support socio- economic development and improve human well- being and ensuring access for all citizens to safe, affordable, convenient and sustainable transport system and improving traffic safety, notably by expanding public transport with special attention paid to the needs of women, children, persons with disabilities and elderly people.

According to the representative of Canon Vietnam Onishi, the “Lighting up the countryside” project started from 2013. After 10 years, Canon Vietnam has sponsored nearly 220 kilometers of lighting system in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Phu Tho, Yen Bai, Thanh Hoa, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang provinces. “Through this project, I hope that more and more streets in small villages will be lightened up to ensure the traffic safety for local people,” Onishi added.

Handing over helmets

Earlier on August 14, 20, and 21, Canon Vietnam cooperated with the Youth Union chapters of Hai Duong province’s Chi Linh district, Hanoi’s Soc Son district, and Vinh Phuc province’s Yen Lac district to organize ceremonies to hand over the lighting system to Hoang Tan ward in Chi Linh, Hien Ninh commune in Soc Son; Binh Dinh commune in Yen Lac.

As scheduled, Canon Vietnam will continue the program in three communes in Bac Giang province, five communes in Bac Ninh province, and other communes in Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, and Lang Son provinces.

Totally, in 2022, 35km of lighting system in 14 communes of seven provinces in “Lighting up the countryside” project has been installed with a total investment of VND 780 million sponsored by Canon Vietnam. Especially, from this year, Canon Vietnam will cooperate with Honda’s agencies in districts to organize safety driving training program and free oil change for local people in localities where the project is implemented.
