Seven Vietnamese women have become marriage consultants for the Association for Family Building and Protection of Asan city, Chung Nam province, according to Chosun online newspaper.
These women are Vietnamese brides who have lived in South Korea from 9-13 years, have a happy life, can speak Korean fluently and understand Korean culture and lifestyle.
Their job is to give advice and information to Vietnamese brides to help them adapt themselves to life in South Korea.
The eldest Vietnamese consultant is Ngo An Co, 37, who has been in Korea for 13 years. She said Asan city wants to recruit Vietnamese brides who enjoy life in South Korea to mitigate conflicts caused by language barriers in Vietnamese-Korean families in Asan.
Asan city has 353 foreign brides, including 83 Vietnamese. If this model is successful, they will increase the number of Vietnamese consultants and will expand consultancy services to neighbouring areas.
