The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy in conjunction with authority of Milan city and the Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association on June 5 held a ceremony to lay a statue of late President Ho Chi Minh in the Italian economic, financial and fashion hub.
The bronze statue is located at Antica Trattoria della Pesa restaurant where President Ho Chi Minh used to live and work in 1930s when he moved from Paris to Milan to meet with Communist International comrades and Italian friends.
Addressing the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Dang Khanh Thoai expressed his thanks to the Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association and its chapter in Milan city for their cooperation to speed up the erection of the statue.
He said that the restaurant becomes a destination of Vietnam’s delegations and people when visiting Italy and also a venue for local and foreign people who want to learn about late President Ho Chi Minh.
The Ambassador also expressed hopes that organisations and individuals in Italy , including Milan city, will continue supporting and helping Vietnam to contribute to promoting the traditional friendship between the two countries’ governments and people.
President of the Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association Roberto Cocevari said that the restaurant is the only place that the city authority recognises and Italian people know as a “red address” about President Ho Chi Minh. Putting up the statue in Milan will help the Italian understand more about Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh.
