PM: Vietnam wants to further trade, investment ties with Spain
As strategic partners, Vietnam wants to foster comprehensive relations with Spain, particularly in economic, trade and investment ties, and the Vietnamese Government will create favorable conditions for Spanish enterprises to invest in the country, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
During a reception for newly-accredited Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam Maria Jesus Figa Lopez-Palop in Hanoi on September 19, PM Phuc said Vietnam always cherishes the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Spain, an important member of the European Union (EU), and believed that the diplomat would make significant contributions to developing bilateral relations.
The PM expected that the two sides will increase the exchange of delegations at all levels and asked the ambassador to convey his invitation to Spanish PM Mariano Rajoy to visit Vietnam at convenient time.
He suggested the two nations soon build an action program to create a framework for bilateral cooperation in the coming years, especially in the fields of renewable energy, infrastructure construction, tourism and high-tech agriculture.
The government leader went on to say that the two countries should continue activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations and closely coordinate at international forums, especially the UN, ASEM and ASEAN-EU.
The Vietnamese Government and relevant ministries will create favorable conditions for the ambassador to fulfill her assigned missions, he added.
For her part, Maria Jesus Figa Lopez-Palop promised to try her utmost to elevate the bilateral relationship to a new height.
She expressed her sympathy over the great losses in humans and property caused by storm Doksuri.
The ambassador gave recommendations to promote Spanish cooperation projects in Vietnam to help the European country gain a appropriate position in Vietnam’s business map, adding that her priority is to push economic and trade ties between the two nations.
