Permanent Member of Central Committee’s Secretariat Luong Cuong elected State President
PANO - On October 21, with 100% of Yes votes, the 15th National Assembly elected Luong Cuong, Politburo member and Permanent Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Secretariat, to be Vietnam’s State President for the 2021-2026 term.
Specifically, with 440 out of 440 present National Assembly deputies voted in favor, the National Assembly passed the resolution to elect Luong Cuong as the State President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2021-2026 term.

The resolution takes effect from the date the National Assembly voted to pass it (today, October 21).
The newly-elected State President, Luong Cuong, then took the oath of office, promising to be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution and to do his best to well complete tasks assigned by the Party, State and people.
After the oath-taking ceremony, State President Luong Cuong delivered a speech before the National Assembly.
State President Luong Cuong, born in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province in 1957, holds a bachelor degree in Party building and State governance.
