The central province of Thanh Hoa has urged the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex (NSRP) to install more automatic wastewater monitoring equipment, including cameras, to facilitate the locality monitoring the project.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Dinh Xung said on June 2 that installing the monitoring system would contribute to proper waste treatment, ensuring that the project meets Asian standards on environment protection.
The camera network would facilitate the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment’s supervision, Xung said.
Director General of the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Company Kazutoshi Shimura pledged that the Company will obey the Law on Environment Protection in 2014 and relevant regulations.
The company will operate in line with the environmental standards of the World Bank and other international financial institutions, he said.
In May, 2015, the Government issued Decree No. 43/2015/ND-CP on building and managing corridors to protect water sources, aiming to deter activities causing water pollution and degradation.
