PANO - In a project by the Vietnam Road Administration, as many as 179 out of 187 suspension bridges have been constructed for the mountainous provinces in the North, the Central, and Central Highlands regions.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huyen, the administration’s head, revealed on August 3 that the remaining bridges are under construction and expected to be completed by the middle of this month to ensure traffic safety in the 28 mountainous provinces.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam Road Administration is prioritizing the building of more suspension bridges with capital from sponsors under the program entitled “Span of love and compassion”. So far, 21 sponsors have registered to pump a total of VND 195 billion into constructing 42 bridges. At present 11 bridges are under construction while the designs and investment for 24 others bridges have been completed.
The administration has been working to complete a master plan on building 4,145 bridges in areas inhabited by ethnic minority groups by the middle of this month.
