PANO - A movement in which youths of the medical sector will study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching and do voluntary activities for health of the community was launched on March 22nd by the Ministry of Health (MoH), the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians’ Association and youth union organization under MoH.
Addressing the launch ceremony, Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien laid stress on the need of continuous improvement of the health workers’ expertise and professional ethics. She recalled various proud achievements of the health sector, as well as pointed out shortcomings that need to be overcome.
On the occasion, the health minister conferred the title “2013 Typical Young Vietnamese Physician” to 10 outstanding physicians nationwide.
The same day, a two-day health festival was opened in Minh Tri commune, Soc Son district, Hanoi. The festival offered free health checkups, medicines and presented gifts to 500 locals. Other activities in this festival included ocular surgeries for 50 elderly people, dental checkups for 200 children, chest X-ray, a basic first-aid course for nursery teachers, and a festive day on hand-washing with soap for primary students.
