PANO – Division 320 of Army Corps 3 on January 16th held a ceremony to mark its 64th founding anniversary and receive the State's posthumous title, “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces”, for martyrs Nguyen Nhu Trang and Nguyen Quoc Doanh.
Established in the anti-French war, Dong Bang Brigade (predecessor of Division 320) took part in 16 campaigns and 2,212 battles, annihilating tens of thousands of enemy troops and seizing thousand tons of ammunition and vehicles. For their feats of arms, the unit has been honoured twice with the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces by the Party and State. Its units, officers and troops were also presented with the noble title.
Nguyen Nhu Trang and Nguyen Quoc Doanh, former officers of the division’s constituent units, were among those who had sacrificed for the national independence.
Born in 1927 in Cao Xa commune, Lam Thao district, Phu Tho province, Nguyen Nhu Trang, former Deputy Commander of Battalion 150 of Regiment 52 of Inter-region 3, had fulfilled his duty and obtained many outstanding feats of arms.
Nguyen Quoc Doanh, former Deputy Commander of Battalion 9 of Regiment 64 of Division 320, died in 1971 in Sepon district, Laos’ Savannakhet province in the Road 9-South Laos Campaign. Doanh also got many excellent feats of arms.
The noble title is the Party’ and State’s acknowledgement of their contributions to the nation.
