At the ceremony, Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien applauded the efforts to build the university, saying that she hopes the school will provide high-quality training to help improve Vietnam’s health care, especially in rural areas.

Covering 3.2ha in the vicinity of the urban area Ecopark, phase I of the school costs 20 million USD, and features lecture halls, classrooms, practice rooms, a workshop centre and a training centre, and is designed to train 1,200 students.

The university has started offering undergraduate courses in nursing, physical therapy and orthopedics. It will provide training in another two majors next year.

The school is expected to build its own hospital in 2018.
