Le Thanh Hai, Political Bureau member cum City Party Secretary led a delegation to visit army units in Ho Chi Minh City on the 67th anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army (Dec 22, 1944) and People’s National Defense Day, on Dec 19.

Every year, on the founding anniversary of Vietnam People’s Army and People’s Defence Festive Day (Dec 22), political leaders often visit army units, war veterans and various related organizations.
The high-ranking delegation paid a visit and presented gifts to officers and soldiers of Military zone 7 headquarters and the Army number 47 headquarters.
During the visit, the HCMC Party Secretary praised the achievements of the Vietnam Army over the past years. He presented gifts and attentively inquired after the soldiers, who dedicate their youth to the national revolution and security of areas around HCMC.
“The task of building the country and protecting our national sovereignty are closely linked," said Comrade Hai.
The visiting Party leader highlighted the role of the armed forces in national socio-political life, their significant contribution to the mobilization of grass roots level to effectively meet the Party’s guidelines and State policies and their special role in maintaining political stability and social order and development of HCMC.
The HCMC Party Secretary also wished that Army fighters would further uphold Uncle Ho’s qualities and values and stand side-by-side with the Party, People’s Committee and the people of HCMC to successfully fulfill their mission entrusted by the Party, State and people in national construction and for the cause of national defense.
On the same day, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, member of the Central Committee of CPV, and the HCMC Vice Party Secretary also visited the Central Committee of Vietnam Veterans’ Association (VVA), the Air force brigade 370 and Department 12 of the General Department 2 of the Defense Ministry.
Meeting with army officers and soldiers, she stressed that the Party and HCMC people are always proud of and acknowledge the great contributions and sacrifices of the people’s armed forces, day and night performing the task of maintaining security, peace and order.
She also paid a courtesy visit to Junior-Lieutenant General Nguyen Rang, Chief-of-the-General-Staff of HCMC armed forces.
On the same day, an exhibition opened in HCMC entitled “Long lives the spirit of National Resistance Day” (Dec 19, 1946), describing the task of building the country and protecting national sovereignty and the achievements of the armed forces.
The exhibition also reflects the great efforts, heroic sacrifices and resilient combat spirit of the Vietnamese people’s armed forces, especially when the country is facing many difficulties and challenges.
With 220 photographs, the exhibition portrays the armed forces, their accurate forecast and assessment of situations, in order to promptly deal with all eventualities.
