The Embassy of the Republic of Korea on August 13 said that Samsung Life Insurance Co. Ltd has co-ordinated with the Republic of Korea’s Women Fund to support 30 families of Vietnamese brides in the RoK (including 102 members) to visit their homeland.
These families were divided into two groups, 9 returning to Hanoi and 21 to HCM City. This is the fourth time the company has conducted the program under which priority is given to families receiving support from the government.
This year, families had registered for the program from April 21 to May 24. The selected families in the list of 173 candidates visited their relatives within 6 days 5 nights and were involved in cultural programs about family relationships from August 7-14. They received financial assistance including two-way tickets and related costs.
The program has been kicked off since 2007 after the hand over of 200 million USD from Samsung Life Insurance Co, Ltd to the Republic of Korea’s Women Fund.
Mr Kim Ho II, chief representative of the Samsung Life Insurance Co, Ltd in Hanoi said: 'The program not only provided financial assistance for Vietnamese brides but also offered an opportunity for their RoK husbands and their children to learn more about Vietnamese culture. My company will continue to support married migrant brides and establish a network to help them".
Returning to the RoK, Vietnamese brides will continue to receive assistance from a network of multi-cultural families and organizations.
Around over 90,000 Vietnamese are living in the RoK, becoming the second largest Overseas Vietnamese community in the world. Meanwhile, there are 85,000 Koreans living, studying and doing business in Vietnam. Currently, statistical figure shows that RoK is the home of 40,000 Vietnamese brides.
