Thanh Hoa inspects search, collection of martyrs’ remains in Laos
PANO - On October 6, a delegation from Thanh Hoa province, led by Dau Thanh Tung, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and Head of the provincial Special Working Committee, held a working session with the Special Working Committee of Houaphanh province (Laos).
The delegation conducted a field inspection of the search, exhumation and repatriation of martyrs’ remains by the martyr grave recovery team under the Thanh Hoa provincial Military Command.

The event was attended by Senior Colonel Vo Quang Thien, Political Commissar of the provincial Military Command, and leaders of relevant agencies. Bouakhone Phonmixay, Vice Governor of Houaphanh province, and representatives of provincial agencies received and worked with the delegation.

During the working session, comrade Dau Thanh Tung expressed his deep gratitude to the Houaphanh’s Special Working Committee and the multi-ethnic people of Laos for their care and assistance to the recovery team during its survey, verification, and search operations. Thanks to this support, during the 2025-2026 dry season, the team searched for, collected, and repatriated 19 sets of martyrs’ remains, reaching 119% of its target.

For his part, Bouakhone Phonmixay affirmed that the authorities and people of Houaphanh province always highly value the great sacrifices of fallen Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors. He pledged to continue providing the most favorable conditions for the recovery team to fulfill its mission and soon bring the fallen soldiers back to their homeland.

During a field inspection in Na Thoong village (Sam Neua town), Dau Thanh Tung praised the responsibility and efforts of the recovery team in overcoming challenges posed by rugged terrain, harsh weather, and limited information. He urged the troops to continue regarding this as a sacred political task that reflects the national tradition of “when drinking water, remember its source” and a noble international duty.

On this occasion, he presented certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Thanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee to two collectives and five individuals of Houaphanh province for their outstanding achievements in coordinating the search and collection of martyrs’ remains. The Executive Board of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha chapter in Thanh Hoa province also presented VND 100 million to support the recovery team.
