Upon arriving in the area, despite harsh weather conditions and rugged mountainous terrain, officers and soldiers of Team K71 quickly approached, gathered, and verified information provided by Cambodian residents regarding burial sites of Vietnamese martyrs.
The unit conducted surveys and search efforts in areas of Samraong ward, Samraong City of Oddar Meanchey province, and Rohal commune, Preah Netr Preah district of Banteay Meanchey province. As a result, Team K71 recovered eight sets of remains in Banteay Meanchey and seven sets in Oddar Meanchey.
Beneath the layers of dry earth, the brave sons of the homeland who fell on foreign soil have now been carefully brought home by their comrades.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hoai Thanh, Political Commissar of Team K71, said, “Each set of remains we find brings indescribable emotion and serves as a profound source of motivation for us to continue striving in the mission to bring our fallen comrades back to their motherland. Despite the hardships, the flame of gratitude always burns in the heart of every officer and soldier. For us, this is not only a duty, but also a sacred bond of today’s generation with those who devoted their entire lives to the Fatherland.”
