Scientific seminar on 70 years of Vuon Gon - Da Ban victory

Politburo member, member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, and Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Hoa Binh attended the event. The seminar was co-chaired by Secretary of the Khanh Hoa provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hai Ninh and Major General Cao Phi Hung, Second-in-Command of Military Region 5.

On April 18, 1953, the enemy sent more than 4,000 servicemen, led by Major General Le-Blanc, to Da Ban war zone (Ninh Son commune, Ninh Hoa town) - the resistance war base of Khanh Hoa province in order to destroy our regular force.

Grasping the enemy’s plot, the Vietnamese side sent troops to stop the enemy in the war zone while other troops were tasked with surrounding and ambushing the enemy from “So Thang Lo” (an old French plantation) to Vuon Gon (Ninh Son commune).

On April 19, 1953, the Vietnamese troops gained victory, destroyed more than 400 rivals, and collected hundreds of guns of all kinds.

Talking at the event, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tuan, former Head of the Department of Information and Education under the General Department of Political Affairs of the Vietnam People’s Army, noted that the victory showed the close coordination between the regular force and the local armed forces, ability of grasping the situation and promoting the strength of both human resources and staffed weapons.

Concluding the event, Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh highly appreciated speeches delivered at the event, contributing to addressing many issues and drawing lessons learned from the victory. The lessons will be applied to reality, contributing to building the “people’s heart disposition,” all-people's defense posture, meeting all task requirements in the cause of national construction and defense in the current context.
