The event saw the participation of representatives from the Vietnam Office for Searching Missing Persons (VNOSMP), US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrink, and other representatives from the US Missing in Action (MIA) Office in Hanoi and US Embassy in Vietnam.

At the event, a representative from the Vietnamese side handed over to the US side a set of MIA remains found during the 140th Joint Field Activities from July to September this year.

Vietnamese forensic specialists examined the remains and concluded that it might be related to an MIA US soldier during the war in Vietnam.

The remains will be repatriated the remains to Hawaii for further examination.

Addressing the ceremony, US Ambassador to Vietnam Daniel Kritenbrank thanked and highly appreciated the Vietnamese Government and people for their cooperation in the MIA-related work. He also pledged to continue further supporting Vietnam in war legacy settlement.
