At the memorial service

Earlier on June 14, the People Committee of Hai Duong city, Hai Duong province collected remains of martyrs and held a solemn requiem for the fallen soldiers with the participation of the city’s leaders, local people and martyrs’ relatives.

At the event, after observing a minute's silence, delegates laid wreath and offered incense at the war cemetery of Tan Hung ward in remembrance of the fallen soldiers.

Speaking at the memorial service, Deputy Party Secretary and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hai Duong city Tran Ho Dang thanked the province’s Steering Committee for search, collection, and verification of fallen soldiers' remains and local leadership for taking various measures to raise the effectiveness of the search and collection.

The city’s leader also expressed deep gratitude to the noble sacrifices of heroic martyrs and affirmed that the mission of searching, collecting and repatriating remains of martyrs demonstrates the gratitude tradition of the Vietnamese people. He said that it shows responsibility and love of the city’s Party Organization, authorities, people and armed forces for the nation’s eminent people who devoted their youth and lives to national independence and freedom.

At the ceremony to hand over remains of martyrs to provinces

After the ceremony, delegates and people reburied two sets of remains of martyrs at the war ceremony of Hai Tan ward and handed over three sets of remains of martyrs to Nghe An, Dak Lak and Ben Tre provinces.

The remains are of wounded and sick soldiers, who passed away while being treated at Military Hospital 7 in the resistance war against U.S. imperialists and the border protection war.
