Funeral and reburial ceremony held for 29 martyrs’ remains in Dong Nai City

In a solemn atmosphere, delegates laid wreaths and offered incense in tribute to the great contribution and sacrifices of heroic martyrs who fought and laid down their lives for national liberation, the defense of the Fatherland and the fulfillment of noble international duties.

Due to the harsh conditions of war and the passage of many years, the identities and hometowns of all 29 martyrs whose remains were recovered in this phase have yet to be determined. Fortunately, 19 biological samples among the 29 sets of remains were suitable for DNA testing. Based on these limited biological samples, together with the collection of DNA samples from relatives of unidentified martyrs, there is hope of identifying their next of kin and providing some comfort and easing the pain and loss suffered by their families. Despite many challenges ahead, no opportunity or method will be overlooked.
