Sharing with the People’s Army Newspaper (PAN)'s reporters, Colonel Bui Dai Hai, Deputy Commander of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command affirmed that the unit actively coordinated with the People's Committees of Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces to present gifts to local fishermen living in difficult conditions due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, my income is one tenth compared to the same time last year. So our family faces many difficulties. The gifts of the coast guard force are very meaningful to my family. We thank Uncle Ho's soldiers so much,” Pham Hai, a resident of Tan Hy 1 village (Binh Dong commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province) said.

On the occasion, the delegation visited and gave gifts to fishermen in Nui Thanh commune, Quang Nam province. Accordingly, 200 gifts, including VND 300,000 in cash, 10 tons of rice, and 10 medical face masks, were presented to needy fishermen. Deputy Head of the Mass Mobilization Board of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Quang Phuc stressed that over the past time, the Vietnam Coast Guard Command and local authorities have effectively implemented the “Coast guards stand by fishermen” program, thereby contributing to strengthening the military-civilian ties. “These precious gifts of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command help local fishermen overcome difficulties due to the disease,” he added.

According to Major General Doan Bao Quyet, Deputy Political Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard Command, over the past years, the coast guard force has embraced the directions of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, and Ministry of National Defense in COVID-19 prevention. Besides, the coast guard troops have promptly supported people to overcome the consequences of drought and saltwater intrusion in the Southwestern provinces.

They distributed leaflets, presented 24,000 face masks, 7,000 bottles of hand sanitizer, and various gifts to the people in the Hai Phong city and provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, and Binh Thuan.
