Relief supplies of General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army loaded |
The relief supplies, including medicines, clothing and other necessities, will be presented to locals, policy families and households of Agent Orange/Dioxin victims in flood-hit areas in the Central region, such as Thua Thien- Hue, Quang Ngai, Quang Binh, and Ha Tinh.
Transportation Regiment 657 will be responsible for transporting the relief to areas isolated by floodwaters.
According to Major General Tran Ngoc Tho, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, with support of the Military Region 7 High Command, the relief team expects to arrive in the Central region on October 24.
He also added that the support will contribute to helping local people ease difficulties and soon resume their normal life.
The General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army has decided to provide dried food and life jackets for flood victims in the Central region.
The Department for Search and Rescue under the General Staff coordinated with the Department of Transport under the General Department of Logistics to transport supplies and rescue equipment to the flood-stricken province in Military Regions 4 and 5 on October 22.
The supplies included 20 lifeboats, 200 electric generators, 22 fire pumps, 4,500 life jackets and nearly 60 tons of dried food.
The Department for Transport and the Department for Search and Rescue will deliver to the Military Region 4 and 5 Commands, and other provinces, such as Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien- Hue, and Quang Nam.
